For this project, 4 Master Farms are selected, that will be transformed into dairy farming units. Recently Mr Alex Nieuwland, operational dairy field officer, guides all activities leading to Good Dairy Farming Practises. First priority is the establishment of forage production (the rain season will start soon) in order to safeguard a sound feeding balance for milk production. New opportunities for feeding, combined with a cross breeding program in genetics, will definitely lead to a more productive dairy herd at these Master Farms.
On the left picture the Friesian Team at EF&EF farm to discuss about dairy farm infrastructures, to determine future logistics and planning. On the right picture a visit on a master farm, 5 ha will be used for forage – crops to safeguard feed position during 2018.
