Within the Pearl Dairy Development Programme (DDP) at Mbarara, Uganda, Bles Dairies Consultants have trained over the last ten weeks, 24 young Ugandan graduates to become Dairy Farm Advisors (DDEs).
The training programme consisted of a mix of classroom training, group assignments, field visits and four weeks traineeship at a lead farm. After the training period, the DDEs had to select ten local dairy farmers who are interested in getting hands-on technical assistance and support from the DDEs. In order to be able to visit these farmers and work on their data collection, every DDE received a motorbike, a tablet and a mobile phone.
The Pearl DDP aims to support 1,000 Commercial Dairy Farmers who are able to supply in due time one million litre milk/day. In order to get there, Bles Dairy Consultancy will guide and coach the DDEs in the next twelve months.
