Yesterday a group of international students from Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences visited Bles Dairies Farm. The tour was given by Nynke Dijkstra and Junior Business Developer Robert Horst. They showed and explained how this high tech dairy farm strives to combine all relevant elements regarding milk production. Examples of these elements are animal welfare, biodiversity, climate and profitability. More practical, how to combine agro-environmental schemes with a high productive dairy farm.
After the tour, it was time to explain Bles Dairies’ vision towards a more sustainable / circular dairy value chain. Issues like license-to-produce, societal acceptance, and climate goals indicate the need for a change towards a more sustainable / circular dairy value chain. Although research regarding this topic is still ongoing and opinions differ widely, it was interesting to discuss our vision with this international group.
