On behalf of an international dairy company Ben Braakman and Anne Terpstra were in Vietnam from June 25th till July 9th to conduct a (practical) training in modern farm management. Advisors and extension trainers from the dairy company participated and showed a lot of interest and eagerness to become more skilled. Training issues like young stock rearing, animal health, milking and milking techniques, but also dairy farm economics were discussed. At the end of the training period all participants completed the final test, and almost everybody passed the test successfully.
During the evaluation session the representative of the group concluded that significant progress has been made but more practical training is required in the future. Trainers and advisors need more skills in convincing farmers how to improve their technical and financial results.
